Happy Halloween! We decided to carve pumpkins this year! Both me and Dallas probably haven't carved pumpkins for around 10 years! I was super excited and I was hoping that Cohen would be old enough to understand and have fun doing it this year! He loved picking out the pumpkins. He loves pumpkins he will point them out wherever he sees them. We started washing the pumpkins and he thought that was so much fun then we started taking all the goop out and he enjoyed that and I figured he would. However he started throwing it everywhere, needless to say we had quite the mess! When we started carving the pumpkins I think he was pretty much done. I decided it may be more of an adult activity but he loved the preparation part!
Here he is quite proud of his pumpkin! Mine is on the left, its a haunted house with bats flying above it. You can't quite see it too well but it turned out good! Dallas is next he did a vampire and then Cohen's is a happy face! We sure did have a fun time!
I decided to be crafty this week so Tuesday I went to Roberts and bought a bunch of stuff and came home and tried to put together everything that I had envisioned. For our enrichment activity coming up we are talking about doing the flowers and you put wire on it and it makes it darling. I went over to a girl in my ward to learn how to do it because I loved the flowers and the idea then it made me want to do the block letters. I wanted to do the for Cohen when he was born but I never had time to do it. So I am so glad I got it done this time, I just pray that her name doesn't change! Much thanks to Janelle and Norma in the ward for helping me and especially to Jaymie for watching Cohen while I learned and then she helped me all week long to do it. I couldn't have done it without her, it was nice to bounce our ideas off of eachother and I think it turned out really cute! Even Dallas got in on the event, He helped cut the paper our for one of the blocks and he was so cute, once he was done I was like well aren't you going to glue it on the wood and he was like no I'm done that wasn't even fun! I was laughing pretty hard. He did help aton with figuring out the wire and good tips to shape them easier and make them look good on the flower. He did one and it was perfect. When it comes to stuff like that he is such a perfectionist! Alot of people have been asking how to do it so a quick version and hopefully it makes sense. Just find some wood, I did 5 by 7, paint it and then get scrap book paper and mod podge it on. Then find your letters paint those as well and glue them on the block. Same thing with the flowers, paint, glue scrap book paper on and mod podge. Then find wire and just shape them into petals and hot glue them in the middle with the dot on top. Find ribbon and hang them!
Cohen is such a monkey. Every morning now that he is in his big boy bed he comes out into our bedroom and turns on the light and says Good morning then he comes up in bed and crawls all over Daddy. Lucky for me he doesn't crawl and jump all over me, I figure I have one inside doing that all day and night long, and lately she gets the hiccups almost every night. Needless to say I'm starting to not sleep very well. But it's so cute he will just start yelling in our faces daddy wake up mommy wake up. I have decided it is the best alarm clock ever! Here is a picture of him playing the drums on Daddy's head while he is trying to take a nap.
I am so going to miss the summer time and letting Cohen play outside. He is finally starting to understand alot of his outside toys such as baseball and he is getting so much better at his two wheeler bike! He also loves driving his four wheeler everywhere especially chasing the neighbors cat. I just feel so bad when he asks to go play outside and somedays it's so cold. It may be a long winter being cooped up inside because with a new baby and the cold I don't think we will be going many places.
